UKTC – 2018 – What a Year!
As we end 2018 and look forward to the incredible opportunities that 2019 offers, the UKTC would like to thank every member, past and present, and their families who support them and have supported our organisation.
2018 has been one of the most successful and exciting years for the UKTC. There are too many incredible achievements by individual students, instructors, clubs and our organisation to tell all. However, a short summary of some of what was achieved and what we can look forward to is as follows:
Once again, our organisation grew, opening a range of new classes in the 4 countries of the United Kingdom. Our organisation now has its largest membership ever! Thank you to all who have made this happen.
Our Little Tiger Cubs programme continued to grow, as always, and can now boast a number of former LTC’s who are now qualified ITF Taekwon-Do Black Belts.
Our Active Tigers Taekwon-Do programme continued to help nurture our younger members, improving the overall technical standard of our colour belt students, and helping them on their way to achieving their Black Belts.
We have a new Grand Master – Grand Master Derek Campbell.
We have 2 new Masters – Master David Clark and Master Walter Livingston.
Our Taekwon-Do Champions League competitions recorded their highest level of competitors participating, with Team Carlisle winning the title after Team Irvine had dominated, deservedly, for so many years.
Our members competed internationally in Belarus, England, Estonia, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the USA.
Grand Master Peter Harkess and the UKTC formed the new World ITF Taekwon-Do Council which now has members in 16 countries including Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Ecuador, England, India, Iran, Madagascar, Mexico, Nepal, Northern Ireland, Philippines, Scotland, Spain, Venezuela and Wales. Many other countries continue to enquire about membership, so we expect another fantastic year ahead – www.worlditfcouncil.com
We will host, for the first time ever, our European ITF Taekwon-Do Championships in Scotland from 1st to 3rd November 2019. This will be an event not to be missed.
Grand Master Harkess will host a number of International Technical Seminars throughout the World in 2019, including Mexico City in May 2019. Our international competitors will compete in Mexico at the Mexican Cup. Invites to compete in many other countries including Australia and Canada are being reviewed. Our Taekwon-Do Champions League will start again in February 2019.
The individual achievements of our members have been well documented throughout the various social media streams in 2018. We would like to congratulate you all for your efforts and achievements.
In closing, 2018 has been our best year ever. However, we expect 2019 to be even better.
Thank you all for your support in 2018 and we wish everyone a very Happy New Year and all the very best of health and good fortune in 2019.
